A new project
On October 4, 2018, the Brotherhood of Tiberias launched a "Gospel and Development Project" (french: Foyer Évangile et Développement - FED) project in the DRC in a rural area on the outskirts of the city of Kikwit.
It is a spiritual and social project to give hope and confidence to the people. Bien-Aimé, a young doctor, and Father Sébastien, chaplain, live in the service of this evangelical movement.
Brothers and sisters from Tiberias accompany the young people who have chosen to live there for 1 year several times a year.
3 FED great lines
We cannot remain insensitive to poverty when we proclaim Christ. This is how FED places man in his bodily and spiritual needs at the heart of sustainable development. Social work is structured in 3 main areas:
1. Health Care : Saint-Damien Hospital
Provide quality care accessible to all in a small medical center managed by a doctor. Nutrition program to help people cope with malnutrition.
2. Education : Bakhita Centre
Provide a future for young people with a scholarship and spiritual training. Promote reading through a library. Literate children and adults with adapted lessons led by volunteers.
3. Professional training: Kwilu Workshop
Promote manual work by giving a dozen young people the opportunity to learn the transformation of raw materials, such as the extraction of palm oil but also the manufacture of handmade soaps.
FED volunteering ? (under construction)
Young people can live a time of volunteering within the FED community.
They are leaving as part of the Fraternity's mission in the Congo, in partnership with the DCC (Catholic Delegation for Cooperation) which provides training and social coverage for young volunteers.
The brothers and sisters regularly visit the project and ensure its spiritual animation.
